    Koffee With Karan season 8

Filmmaker Karan Johar is back with the new season of his popular chat show Koffee With Karan. The show host has piqued fans’ interest with several promos, including the latest one featuring Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, who are the first guests of season 8. While the show is all set to begin premiering on October 26, 2023, on Disney +Hotstar, revisit some of the most controversial moments from past seasons of the show here:

Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor’s brutal jibes at Ranbir Kapoor

Back in Season 3, Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor faced wrath for taking digs at Ranbir Kapoor. When Karan asked Deepika what she would like to gift Bachna Ae Haseeno actor, she replied, a box of condoms. She didn’t stop there and added that he should endorse a condom brand. Sonam also made contentious comments that he’d not make a good boyfriend. The duo’s brutal jibes had greatly upset Ranbir’s parents, Rishi and Neetu Kapoor.

When Kareena Kapoor Khan mocked Priyanka Chopra’s accent

Bollywood divas Kareena Kapoor Khan and Priyanka Chopra Jonas had their share of catfights in the past. It was on Season 3 episode 5 when Kareena mocked Priyanka’s accent asking, “Where did PC get that accent from?” In the same season, Priyanka gave her a befitting reply. “I get my accent from the same place her boyfriend (Saif Ali Khan) does,” she had said. The episode created a stir on the internet but the divas put the record straight after they appeared together in Season 6.

Alia Bhatt’s infamous ‘President of India’ thing

In Season 4 episode 5, Alia Bhatt made her appearance on the show with her Student of The Year co-stars Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra. It was during the quiz section that Alia wrongly answered the President of India. She took the name of Prithviraj Chauhan instead of Pranab Mukherjee. Her debut on the show turned out to be a disaster and she became the favourite meme template on the internet overnight.

    Kangana Ranaut’s nepotism row

During episode 16 of Season 5, Kangana took everyone by surprise when she called Karan Johar the ‘flag-bearer of nepotism’. She gave fuel to the whole debate around nepotism in the film industry. She was accompanied by her Rangoon co-star Saif Ali Khan on the show.

When KL Rahul-Hardik Pandya issued apologies after BCCI dropped them

Episode 12 of Season 6 was highly controversial as it was the only episode across seasons to get pulled off-air. Cricketers KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya were heavily criticised for their sexist and misogynistic comments. The BCCI even dropped the players for a few matches for their derogatory tome towards women on the show.
