Jodie Turner-Smith is only the second cast member of the upcoming prequel series that has been officially announced.

Smith will star along with Amandla Stenberg known for her role in the comedy horror movie Bodies Bodies Bodies.

The creator of the hit Netflix series Russian Doll Leslye Headland will serve as showrunner for Star Wars : The Acolyte.

While plot details about the series remain under wraps, the official synopsis describes the show as a mystery thriller set during the final days of High Republican Era.

The High Republic Era is considered to be the golden age of the republic and when the Jedi order was at the height of its power.

During this period the republic was still expanding and was not as vast, so Jedi were tasked with exploring new worlds and facing many dangerous threats.

There is a strong possibility that either Jodie Turner-Smith or Amandla Stenberg could be playing the Jedi master Avar Kriss known as the "Hero of Hetzel"

There is also a rumor floating around that we will get to see the first-ever live-action appearance of the Sith Lord Darth Plagueis who is the master of Emperor Palpatine.

From the synopsis of the show, it is clear that the show will focus on the rise of the Dark Side of The Force and the remembrance of The Sith.

Hopefully, we will get more details at Disney's D23 event, which will start this Friday.

Star Wars: The Acolyte is set to start production in London in 2023.
