Exclusive- Jaaved Jaaferi on Takeshi's Castle Reboot: ‘I would love to do it; would be a win-win situation’

Fans were over the moon with joy when it was reported that Takeshi's Castle is all set to return to our screens as a reboot version. The Japanese game show was one of the most entertaining shows of all time. It followed a unique concept in which a count would set up physical challenges around his castle to make it difficult for players to reach him. One of the major reasons for the show’s popularity in India was Jaaved Jaaferi’s hilarious commentary.

So naturally when Jaaferi shared a tweet of the show’s return, in which a fan had mentioned that his Hindi dubbed commentary was the ‘best part’, netizens started thinking that he will return with ‘Jaaved’s ridiculous reply’. Well, during an exclusive interview with Desimartini, we asked the actor if rumors about him being a part of the reboot version are true. To this, Jaaved replied, “No.. there’s nothing. There’s no truth in that. It’s coming, yeah, I heard about it. Mujhe kisi ne abhi tak approach nahi kiya. I would love to do it.”

He went on to explain, “Because woh show mere dil ke bohot kareeb raha and I think I did contribute a bit in the success of that show in India. And there’s a great relationship between an audience, which already exists, who grew up watching Takeshi's Castle, and woh ek meri unse bonding hui hui hai. And I think it would be a win-win situation. To have a preset audience, connected to somebody who already is relatable and who did well in whatever was that. I would love to do it again, I love that show!”

Well, we truly hope makers approach Jaaferi soon! The reboot version is all set to premiere next year.
