Ever since its release, Arjun Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar’s The Lady Killer has been making headlines for wrong reasons. The movie had its unexpected theatrical release on November 3, 2023. with a handful of shows in selected cities and mere two screenings in Delhi. Even the critics gave negative reviews stating that the film was released incomplete in theatres. Director Ajay Bahl had dropped a comment on The Lady Killer's movie review of Jammy Pants, confirming that film was incomplete and was extremely painful to shoot.

In the latest development, Ajay rejected his own claim made on the review, and called it as a 'humourous take on baseless rumour'. He said a sarcastic remark made in passing has been picked up in a wrong connotation to which he clarified saying, “It’s a humorous take on a baseless rumour circulating about the film's completion status. I understand that humour and sarcasm can sometimes be misinterpreted. I want to emphasize that "Ladykiller" is a complete film which has been released for the audiences and I am immensely proud of this project. I am grateful for the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in bringing this film to fruition.’’

Earlier, the reports suggested that film was dead meat even before its release as it was incomplete due to budget constraints. The production house T-series had reportedly provided the entire budget that was required but the discrepancies in the accounting showed up which led to funds drying up. Not only director Ajay Bahl but actors Arjun Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar had not been paid. By the time, the director arranged the funds, the dates booked with the actors were gone as a result the film was left incomplete, the reports added.

Talking about the film, the suspense drama thriller follows the whirlwind romance of small-town playboy (Arjun Kapoor) and a self-destructive beauty(Bhumi Pednekar).
