Animal Box Office Day 10: Ranbir Kapoor starrer records highest second weekend ever, races past Rs 700 crores worldwide

    Despite polarized reviews, Animal just couldn’t stop roaring at the box office. The Ranbir Kapoor starrer grossed a staggering Rs 717.46 Cr worldwide after its second weekend, proving its unbeatable might at the box office. The film also inched closer to the coveted Rs 500 cr club in India, which Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan and Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 have obtained so far in Bollywood.

    According to the industry tracker Sacnilk, Animal amassed a remarkable Rs 36.00 Cr on its tenth day for all languages. The film had an overall 52.45% Hindi Occupancy on Sunday as per reports. The film had a strong opening of Rs 63.8 crore, the film went on to mint moolah at the box office ever since. On the first Saturday and Sunday, it collected Rs 66.27 crore and Rs 71.46 crore respectively. On the first Monday, the film earned Rs 43.96 crore, Rs 37.47 crore on Tuesday, Rs 30.39 crore on Wednesday, and Rs 24.23 crore on Thursday, amounting to Rs 337.58 crore in the first week.

    Further, the film collected Rs 22.95 crore on Day 8, Rs 34.74 crore on Day 9 and Rs 36 crore on Day 10, emerging to be the biggest second weekend ever. The total domestic collection now stands at Rs 431.27 crore. At the global box office, the film has amassed Rs 717.00 Crore in ten days. As per trade experts, the film trends better than Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, given that it is A-rated and 3 hours 21 minutes long has not stopped the audience. The film has already turned out to be Ranbir’s highest grosser of his career overtaking Sanju's worldwide box office record of Rs 586.85 crore.

    Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga of Kabir Singh and Arjun Reddy fame, the film is about the troubled relationship between a father and a son. Ranbir plays the ruthless Rannvijay, while Anil Kapoor essays his father Balbir Singh in the film. Besides them, the film also made headlines for Bobby Deol’s antagonist character Abrar Haque, Rashmika Mandanna’s role of Gitanjali and Triptii Dimri’s character Zoya. Backed by T-series, Cine1 Studios and Bhadrakali Pictures, the film was released in theatres on December 1 alongside Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur.
