Not many are aware that Saif Ali Khan, who received a National Award for his portrayal of Langda Tyagi in Vishal Bhardwaj's Omkara was not the first choice for the role. Initially, Aamir Khan was Vishal Bhardwaj's top pick to portray the character on screen. However, Bhardwaj ultimately changed his mind due to Aamir Khan's tendency to delve deeply into scripts and request changes, which the filmmaker wasn't prepared to accommodate at that point of time. As a result, Saif ended up playing Langda Tyagi in Omkara. The film also starred Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor Khan in lead roles.

In a conversation with Film Companion, Saif Ali Khan was asked is he was aware that Aamir Khan was the first choice to play Langda Tyagi in Omkara, to which he said that he knew about it and even revealed the actual reason why Bhardwaj chose to cast him and not Aamir Khan. Saif told the portal, "Vishal said, ‘He (Aamir) was asking me a lot of questions and he wanted to alter things".

He further added,"Aamir must have just had a discussion with him but Vishal apparently said he will call him back and then he called me instead. He just said it is not going to work because he wasn’t sure it was going to go the way Aamir wanted. It was not something Vishal was comfortable with following."

It is widely reported that Ashutosh Gowarikar's film Lagaan had many last moment changes made by Aamir Khan. But the film went on to become a cult classic and also a big box office hit. As of now Aamir Khan is on a break but fans are eagerly awaiting his comeback to the silver screens. The actor will next be seen in Sitare Zameen Par.
