    Sara Ali Khan is all set to charm the audience in the role of freedom fighter in the upcoming film, Ae Watan Mere Watan . On Monday morning, producer Karan Johar unveiled the actress's first look while sharing the announcement teaser. Sharing it, he wrote, “an ode to the unsung heroes. an ode to India’s freedom struggle.#AeWatanMereWatan, new Amazon Original Movie - now filming!”

    The teaser shows a young girl secretly assembling a radio-like device in a dimly lit room. The camera gradually reveals the young girl to be Sara Ali Khan as a college girl in Bombay who shares the message of independence with the entire nation until she is interrupted by the incessant banging at the door. Sara could be seen in a non-glamourous avatar wearing a simple white saree, with her hair in a braid, and a bindi on her forehead. Watch the announcement teaser here:

    Directed by Kannan Iyer, Ae Watan Mere Watan is an upcoming thriller drama inspired by the tale of an unsung hero known for setting up an underground radio that functioned during the Quit India phase of the independence struggle in 1942. Sharing her excitement about playing this role, Sara said, “it is very challenging to essay a character that is vastly different from anything that I’ve done before, it is a project I’m going to work really hard on. And most importantly, I’m going to cherish every day that I get to play an enigmatic freedom fighter.”

    While director Kannan said, “Ae Watan Mere Watan is going to be a tribute to the priceless contributions made by fearless heroes to India’s fight for independence. It is my first time working with Sara Ali Khan and I am excited to see how she moulds herself into this character.”

    Meanwhile, Ae Watan Mere Watan is backed by Karan Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment with Somen Mishra serving as the co-producer. The film is set to be the upcoming Amazon Original movie which will be available to Prime members in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
