Haseen Dillruba: Taapsee Pannu and Vikrant Massey to reunite for a sequel; will pick up story where it ended

Last year, writer Kanika Dhillon and director Vinil Mathew introduced us to an on-screen pair that was unexpected, fresh and hit the right chord-- Taapsee Pannu and Vikrant Massey as Rani and Rishu in Haseen Dillruba . The romantic mystery thriller film which took the digital route with Netflix was one of a kind. It started off as a love story which slowly turned to take the road of infidelity before emerging as a murder mystery. It had all the elements needed for a gripping and entertaining watch which is why it was a winner!

Well much to our delight, the makers are now considering a sequel which will begin where Rani and Rishu’s story ended. In a report shared by Mid Day, a source revealed, “There is interest in the film because it broke into the Indian market in a way that no other Hindi movie on Netflix was able to. Its success can be attributed to its story and pulpy treatment. The producers and the streaming giant are pursuing the idea of a sequel. Writer Kanika Dhillon is toying with the idea of picking up the narrative from where the first part ended.”

When Taapsee was asked about the same, the actress did not give a definite answer but did drop what seems like a hint. She shared, “All I can say at this point is that I can’t deny [the news].” Also starring Harshvardhan Rane in a pivotal role, the film was backed by Aanand L Rai , Himanshu Sharma, Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar. We are now eagerly waiting for a confirmation on the sequel!
