The box office battle between Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar’s films has nothing to watch out for as they both struggle. However, Akshay’s Mission Raniganj performed way better than Bhumi Pednkekar’s Thank You For Coming. The total weekend collection stands at Rs 12.13 crore for the survival drama, while Bhumi’s film has earned a meagre Rs 4 crore.

As per industry tracker Sacnilk, Mission Raniganj had an average opening of Rs 2.8 crore. It grew on Saturday and Sunday, registering collections of Rs 4.50 crore and Rs 4.85 crore respectively. On the other hand, Thank You For Coming failed to pull the audiences to the theatres. It had a poor start at the box office with earnings of Rs 1.06 crore, followed by Rs 1.56 crore and 1.67 crore respectively on Day 2 and Day 3 of the release.

As per early estimates, both the films are projected to dip on its first Monday. It is expected that Mission Raniganj may collect Rs 2 crore, given the star value and positive review. On the other hand, Thank You For Coming will likely dip further to Rs 0.85 crore, making it hard to stay afloat for long at the box office.

Meanwhile, Mission Raniganj stars Akshay Kumar in the role of Jaswant Singh Gill, who has been a real life hero who saved 65 miners stuck inside a flooded coal mine in West Bengal’s Raniganj back in 1989. Directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, the film also stars Parineeti Chopra, Kumud Mishra, Pavan Malhotra, Ravi Kishan, Varun Badola and Dibyendu Bhattacharya in pivotal roles.

Thank You For Coming is sex comedy that follows the story of a 32-year-old die-hard romantic settles for an arranged marriage after a spate of failed relationships. Besides Bhumi, the film also stars Anil Kapoor, Karan Kundrra, Kusha Kapila, Shehnaaz Gill, Dolly Singh and Shibani Bedi in key roles. Directed by Karan Boolani, the film was released on Octiber 6, 2023, clashing with Mission Raniganj.
