Selfiee: Akshay Kumar & Emraan Hashmi starrer to release on February 24 2023, roles of the actors revealed

Ever since it was announced that Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi will be coming together for the film Selfiee in January earlier this year, the fans were sent into a frenzy for more updates on the film. Now, their wait is finally over as the release date of the family entertainer is finally out. The movie will be released on February 24, 2023.

The makers of Selfiee released an official statement about its release date. The statement read, “ Dharma Productions , Prithviraj Productions, Magic Frames, and Cape of Good Films’ previously announced 'Selfiee', starring Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi along with Diana Penty and Nushrratt Bharuccha will now release on February 24, 2023.” The film has been directed by Raj Mehta and will be bankrolled by Karan Johar ’s Dharma Productions as well as Cape Of Good Films.

The movie is a Hindi remake of the 2019 Malayalam hit film, Driving License which starred Prithviraj Sukumaran and Suraj Venjaramoodu in the lead roles. Incidentally, Sukumaran’s production house Prithviraj Productions along with Magic Frames will also be producing the Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi starrer Selfiee. Earlier according to a news report in Pinkvilla, the roles of Akshay and Emraan from the movie had also been revealed.

According to the report, while Akshay Kumar will be playing a superstar in the movie, Emraan Hashmi will be playing the role of a police officer. Not only this but Hashmi’s character will be shown to be a huge fan of Akshay’s in the same. A source close to the development revealed to the publication, “The film is an ego battle between the two powerful, which keeps the audience on the edge of their seats.”

Nushrratt Bharuccha and Diana Penty will presumably play the love interests of the two actors in Selfiee. This will mark the first collaboration between Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi on the big screen. The original movie had been helmed by Jean Paul Lal.
