As promised, Zoya Akhtar's highly anticipated film The Archies has finally dropped today on Netflix. From Katrina Kaif to Karan Johar, several celebrities took to their respective social media handles to share their review about the musical drama. The web original film marks Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan, Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda, and Boney Kapoor’s daughter Khushi Kapoor’s Bollywood debut.

Set in 60s, The Archies revolves around seven teenagers navigating friendship, love and heartbreaks in the fictional town Riverdale. It is an Indian adaptation of the American comic of the same name. Besides Suhana, Agastya and Khushi, the film also has Mihir Ahuja, Dot, Vedang Raina, and Yuvraj Menda.

Katrina took to her Instagram stories and said that the film was full of charm and innocence. “Takes you back to a era of innocence and charm that we seem to have forgotten ,so beautifully crafted and attention given to each and every frame ,musicals are the hardest genre to crack and this just got it so RIGHT brilliantly choreographed songs and imaginatively shot (sic),” a part of her review read. Malaika Arora wrote, “What an incredible trip down memory lane, filled with so much nostalgia.”

Karan Johar penned a long note appreciating Zoya, Reema Kagti and the cast and crew. “A town of Anglo Indians called RIVERDALE! The year is 1964..And straight from the credit roll you’re sucked right into @zoieakhtar’s world and with her impeccable craft and command she makes sure you’re hooked! The production design, the cinematography, the choreography , the costume design will blow your mind with its on fleek detailing and aesthetic victories! Zoya and Reema not only speak of friendship and the traumas of genZ love but also of what a teenage mind can feel when they combat their sexual orientation and fear judgement ( watch out for this tender moment my favourite scene in the film) …but very subtly they adress climate change , voice of a minority and the need to uprise to injustice all this packaged to a zingy and zanny musical!!” he wrote.

Madhuri Dixit wrote, “Kudos to Zoya and her team for creating this fabulous world of #TheArchies. It was amazing to see all the young actors so poised and confident. Loved the experience. This film will definitely win hearts everywhere. Congratulations to the whole team of #TheArchies.” On the other hand, Khushi’s sister Janhvi Kapoor hailed her in her reviews. She wrote, "@khushi05k I would always go up in arms if anyone ever hurt you but I think I'd do even more for Betty Cooper, she has my heart. and its only because of the warmth, honesty and charm that you have given her (sic)." She also praised Suhana Khan, Agastya Nanda, Vedang Raina, Dot, Mihir Ahuja, and Yuvraj Menda for their performances.

Backed by Tiger Baby Films, Graphic India and Archie Comic, the film was released on December 7, 2023.
