Actor-comedian-poet Shailesh Lodha who was known for his portrayal of Taarak Mehta in the show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah grabbed several headlines after he was assumed to be lashing out at The Kapil Sharma Show . In an event, Shailesh was heard criticizing some comedy gags which exactly suited the format of Kapil Sharma’s show. However, Shailesh was trolled brutally after he was seen appearing on Kapil’s show as a guest. Now, the actor has finally broken his silence on the entire fiasco.

Talking about the same in a recent interview with RJ Siddharth Kannan, Shailesh Lodha said, “This story is different. I never said that. I had only said there are shows on TV that are vulgar where a grandmother goes around kissing people. It was about that content. There are many shows like that. I felt there is a better way to do comedy. It was never about a show. People connected it to something else. Kapil and I have performed on stage together.”

Furthermore, the actor added that he was just calling out the genre of the vulgar and cheap comedy shows and was not referring to one particular show or comedian in general. Shailesh Lodha said, “There was nothing like that. I was talking about the vulgarity in TV shows that has started to emerge now. I was talking about that. I wasn’t talking about someone personally. I never do that. Kapil is a very good artist and a friend. It was not about him at all.”

In an old poetry-reading event, Shailesh Lodha was seen criticizing some comedic elements which bore a stark resemblance to The Kapil Sharma Show ’s format. He was heard saying, “I am ashamed of some shows where a grandmother wants to kiss everyone, an aunt that is desperate for marriage, and a husband who humiliates his wife in front of others. I work in a show where a son takes his father’s blessing for any work he does.” The clip of the same had also gone viral on social media.
