Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah's Priya Ahuja agrees with Jennifer Mistry, says ‘it is 100% male-chauvinistic place’

After Jennifer Mistry’s shocking claims against Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and show producer Asit Modi, Priya Ahuja opened up about the toxic work environment. The actress, who played the popular character of Rita Reporter, revealed that she was discarded by the makers without any explanation after she got married to the show director Malav Rajda. She also accused Asit Modi of passing sexist remarks at her.

In a recent interview with a new portal, Priya revealed that actors go through mental harassment on the sets of the show. “Yes, the artists have to go through mental harassment when they work on Taarak Mehta. Asit Kumarr Modi bhai, Sohil Ramani or Jatin Bajaj (he’s like my younger brother) they never misbehaved with me. But as far work is concerned I’ve been subjected to unfair treatment,” she told Etimes. She added that she didn’t get respect despite being associated with the show for 14 years. When tried to know about her track, she got no response from the makers. “Asit bhai has told me this many a times ‘Malav is earning then why do you have to worry. You enjoy life like a queen…,'” she quoted Asit’s sexist remark.

Further, Priya rubbished the claims of the makers calling Jennifer indisciplined and abusive. Instead, she agreed with Jennifer’s statement that the show is a male-chauvinistic place. “Yes, it is 100 per cent there. The male chauvinistic attitude on Taarak sets,” she said. However, she refrained from reacting to Jennifer’s sexual harassment allegation against Asit. She said that she was not present at those incidents and Asit never made such comments in front of her.

Meanwhile, Jennifer, who played the role of Mrs Roshan Sodhi, accused Asit of sexual harassment. On the other hand, the makers claimed that the actress was abusive and indisciplined in nature. The show’s actress Monica Bhaduriya also came in support of Jennifer saying that she too experienced the similar unpleasant things while working on the sets. She essayed the popular role of Bawri on the show.
