Barry Keoghan - Meet the actor who is playing The Joker in Matt Reeves' Batman movie

Barry Keoghan who play the Joker in Matt Reeves' recently released The Batman has quickly garnered a lot of attention for shouldering the role of the iconic villain after a deleted clip of his from the film has been released. The role has previously been essayed by actor like Heath Ledger and more recently by Joaquin Phoenix.

The Irish-born actor Barry Keoghan is mostly known for his role as another comic book character in the recent MCU movie The Eternals in which he played the role of Druig, while the movie received lukewarm receptions from fans and critics the performances from the cast including Keoghan received praise.

This is not surprising as the actor has given some stellar performances in critically acclaimed movies and shows like Christopher Nolan's World War drama Dunkirk and Calm with Horses which earned him a Bafta nomination for best supporting actor.

He was also part of shows like Chernobyl, Love/Hate, and Rebellion.

The actor was quick to thank fans for all the love and support he received after the clip of him playing The Joker came out.

Barry Keoghan has said in previous interviews that he never thought he would be an actor and in fact, he wanted to be a boxer as he is a trained amateur Boxer. It was by sheer coincidence that the actor saw a spotting call for young actors on the window of a local show and decided to give it a shot, his performance got the attention of several directors and the rest, as they say, is history.

The actor got his big break in the 2017 with psychological horror-thriller film The Killing of the Scared Deer in which he played the villain and starred alongside Nicole Kidman and Colin Farrell.

His performance got the attention of Christopher Nolan which led him to be cast in Dunkirk.

The actor gives credit for his success to his dream journal for his success. In an interview with the Irish Independent, the actor said that he is a huge believer in manifestations so he writes down his dreams of working with great directors like Christopher Nolan Bart Leighton, and Yorgos Lanthimos all of which have come true.

 Barry Keoghan has two upcoming projects one is a movie called The Banshees of Inisherin directed by three-time Oscar nominee Martin McDonagh, in which he will be acting alongside veteran actor Brendan Gleeson.

The other project is a World War two mini-series based on Eighth Air Force of the United States Army Air Forces and produced by Tom Hanks .
