Shah Rukh Khan, Rajkumar Hirani and Taapsee Pannu opened up about the making of Dunki, its BTS scenes and various aspects of its production in a special video, ahead of its release. Shah Rukh asked the filmmaker to narrate the whole story of Dunki to viewers. Rajkumar gave insight to the facts and glimpses of research material in the video. During the conversation, Shah Rukh revealed a classroom scene wherein he shared a lemon with his co-star Vicky Kaushal.

He then went on to add that the two bonded really well and jokingly said that Vicky once called him and said, “Katrina se maine jaldi shaadi kar li, agar shaadi nahi hoti toh main aapse kar leta(Had I not married Katrina Kaif, I would have married to you).” Further, Shah Rukh also hailed Vicky’s performance in a drunk scene from the movie. “Fantastically performed scene,” he said.

Later, Shah Rukh showed a picture of himself with Taapsee Pannu sitting on a bench at the graveyard. He took a dig at Rajkumar saying that he wanted to make me do something which he hasn’t done in any movie. “Sir, aap jaha marzi kara lo, toh sir ne kaha main kabristan me karaunga,” said Shah Rukh and the filmmaker laughed. The superstar then said that the filmmaker took him to graveyard to perform a romantic scene with Taapsee. “ Main ye dawe se keh sakta hu ki mere jaisa romance kabristan me koi nahi kar sakta,” he added.

Meanwhile , Shah Rukh also revealed that Dunki is rooted in reality as facts are shown in the film. He said that the audience might find it hard to believe some actually travel with such peril to make a livelihood abroad. At the same time, he added that it is heart-wrenching to know how many lose their lives in that fashion. Backed by Red Chillies Entertainment, the film is about a group of friends who use a backdoor process to move to another country, then struggle to return home. The film is set to arrive in theatres on December 21, 2023.
