Abhay Deol and Patralekha's latest venture Nanu Ki Jaanu has already released, and film which is being touted as a horror comedy can boast of a stellar star cast. Director Faraz Haider who has previously directed India's first horror comedy War Chhod Na Yaar has tried to bring an interesting premise to the table where the ghost of Patralekha is in love with the character of Abhay Deol, Nanu. While the premise sounds interesting the lousy execution and over-crowded subplots render the film to be absolutely terrible. We tried using words, but somehow they failed to convey the disaster, so used pictures instead. The film has a fairly decent beginning and the initial bit, even if mindless, manages to create certain engaging moments. However, as the film progresses, the ridiculousness of it keeps increasing ultimately culminating into a climax that would leave you exasperated and utterly unconvinced. The sub plots are simply too many and the director is utterly confused about what the film really wants to say. It oscillates between horror, comedy, urban drama and a thriller and crams in too many subplots. It has to say a little about a change of heart, give you a faint feeling of the life in Noida and the cornucopia of characters living there, a bordering on ridiculous romantic angle and fleeting nuggets of many other things that director thought was topical and crammed the screenplay.Abhay Deol tries to be sincere in his part and has the highest screen presence and the female lead Patralekha is barely there in the film. With an unpalatable khichdi of horror, comedy, thriller, drama and romance, the film lands itself our facepalm category.

More than often we have seen that good things actually take a lot of time to happen and over time people realize the value of those things. Similar has been the case with cult films. At the time of their release, they neither set the box office on fire nor impressed the audiences. Some of these films were so polarizing at the time of their release that even the critics didn't know whether to love them or hate them. There are many reasons which can be discussed in lengths why exactly these films didn't work at the box-office. But one thing which is a certain takeaway from these films is that if they would have been raging hits they wouldn't have etched in our memories like they have now. The essence of a cult film is understood over time, the performance of the lead actors slowly charms its way to the viewers and the film finally gets its due. Here are 8 performances by lead actors we are thankful did not became a box-office rage:SRKinSwades:Swades is probably one of the finest performance from a leading man in Bollywood. The film shows a successful NRI who misses his motherland and wants to be a part of his country's development and how he overcomes the challenges he faces. SRK delivered a great performance but the film did not find many takers at the box-office at the time of its release.Varun DhawaninOctober:Varun Dhawan stars as Dan in Shoojit Sircar's October. The film introduced the audiences to the 'actor' Varun Dhawan who has mostly starred in Masala potboilers till now barring Badlapur. The film is getting praise from the critics while the audience reaction has been pretty divisive. It takes guts to do a film like October when an actor is enjoying a successful run at the box-office and it's undoubtedly Varun's career-best performance.Hrithik Roshanin Lakshya:Hrithik Roshan's Karan is all of us in our 20s. Clueless about our future, we probably choose the line our friends are choosing as careers and never give a thought to what we want to do in our lives. The film is brimming with energy as this Farhan Akhtar and Hrithik Roshan collaboration makes us aware of the aim of our lives. It teaches different things on so many levels that the audiences didn't exactly love it when it released.Amitabh BachchaninAgneepath:A lot of reasons can be attributed to why Agneepath didn't work at the box-office. Amitabh Bachchan's gravely voice was one of the major reasons apart from the fact that he wasn't exactly a strong box-office force he used to be in the 70s and the early 80s. He won the National Award for the best actor and the film slowly gained a cult following with the audiences falling for its dialogues, characters, story, performances, music, and direction.Sridevi in Lamhe:A film very well ahead of its time, Sridevi played dual roles of mother and daughter who are the love interests of the same man. The film flopped at the box-office but over the years, audiences have realized it is possibly one of the finest romantic films in Bollywood and Yash Chopra's best film. No one could have played the role better than Sridevi.Manoj Bajpai in Aligarh:Manoj Bajpayee gave a hauntingly beautiful performance as Professor Ramchandra Siras in Hansal Mehta's Aligarh. He played a homosexual character who is suspended from the University over the grounds of morality and is ostracised by the society. Everyone hailed the film and the performance of its actors but the film failed to make a mark at the box-office.Aamir&Salmanin Andaz Apna Apna:Another film which didn't do well at the box-office but had performances which hit the bullseye, Andaz Apna Apna is a cult film now. Its said that the film took almost 3 years to get made and even 3 days before its release, the posters weren't ready. The audiences knew that Govinda-Johnny Lever-Kader Khan were the comedy kings of the 90s and passed on the film while Salman gained full stardom post Hum Apke Hain Koun which was released later that year.

The Avengers: Infinity Waris undobtedly the most awaited film of the year. Marvel's Phase 3 is going to conclude with the Infinity War and its sequel. A number of storylines and popular characters will meet their end while audiences will also get to see the beginning of a new era in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. 10 years ago, no one even in their wildest dreams would have thought that they will get to see so many superheroes in one film itself! But, extending any franchise to sub-franchise, spin-offs and prequels mean that there should be enough material in each of the films which keep the viewers interested throughout. It is an uphill task and requires immense creativity from the writers and directors. Marvel successfully interjected in bits and pieces a few scenes about the infinity stones in its films and now in Inifinty War, these stones take the center stage.Similar is the case with other Hollywood franchises as well. These films hook the viewers on a certain storyline and with peaking audience interest along with healthy box-office numbers, we get to see a grand finale, the epic conclusion. Here are Marvel's Infinity Stones and their other fandom equivalents:Infinity Stones:Though it hasn't been explicitly stated about the collective power of all the infinity stones, comic book experts agree on one point that it makes the owner the most powerful being in the universe. The owner can control reality, life, time, the universe apart from other things.Deathly Hallows:InHarry PotterUniverse, The Elder Wand, The Resurrection Stone, and The Invisibility Cloak make for the Deathly Hallows which when combined make their owner the master of death. Voldemort was after the Deathly Hallows and the readers/audiences came to know from the books/movies that Harry Potter owned the 3 Deathly Hallows. All Spark:In theTransformersUniverse, a Spark is the soul of a transformer and it gets its life from the spark. The All Spark is said to be the object which creates a new transformer and it consists of the spark of a transformer who ever lived or will ever live. In the 2007 live-action film Megatron is after the All Spark which will give him the immense power to create his own army to rule the planet.Talismans:In the popular animated TV Series,Jackie Chanstars as an amateur archaeologist who teaches at a university but gets into trouble after he finds a shield containing a talisman which is sought after by a criminal organization who serve Shendu, the demon sorcerer. There are 12 Talismans which are magical artifacts named after twelve animals of the Chinese Zodiac. They all contain a part of Shendu's power and must be kept apart as if they are combined, Shendu attains his ultimate form.Last Airbender:The Last Airbender is an animated series which has also been adapted into a live-action film. The Last Airbender is the last Avatar, the spirit of light and peace in a human form. He is the one responsible for controlling the 4 elements: water, air, earth, fire and also keeping the 4 nations in peace.

Majidi is one of the most talented filmmakers in the world and like any other cinema lover, we were excited to see how the film turns out to be.Ahead of the release of the film, want to know how it was and what was it all about or whether it could turn out to be Majidi's best works? Well, check out the review here:1. Ishaan Khattar as AmirIshaan Khattar plays the character of Amir in the film. The film belongs to him. It was a commendable performance from his side and it did not feel like he was facing the camera for the first time. He was all natural and spontaneous in the portrayal of the shrewd but sensitive Amir.2. Malavika Mohanan as TaraMalavika plays the character of Taara, who is Amir's sister and has raised him ever since the death of his parents. Whether they are related by blood is not clear. She is a genuinely good soul without a hint of complexity in her.The Good and the Bad in the filmWe had a lot of expectations from the film, given it is Majidi's film. But while it would bring in a myriad of emotions in you and also move you with its powerful storytelling, it falls short of becoming a masterpiece due to a jaded first half! The main elements in the film and their rating:

Guess what is the biggest mystery that people in the country are going nuts about? Drum Rolls…whether Illeana D’Cruz is pregnant or not? A few days back Mira Rajput was also in the news due to people speculating if she was pregnant with her second child or not? When we look at how actresses get reported in media, it is not difficult to spot the regressive and sexist our ways are. Irrelevant, inconsequential and often trivializing people are more bothered about bizarre things when it comes to actresses. From pregnancy to settling down, here are 5 things that people need to stop being bothered about Bollywood actresses.PregnancyPregnancyWe understand it’s a joyous occasion when your beloved stars are about to embark on the journey of parenthood, but what we often forget that it is also a deeply personal and intimate type for the couple. The amount of hoopla that surrounds the pregnancy details of actresses is simply too much. From their pregnancy wardrobe to weight gain and weight loss, the media glare on these issues is unbelievable. Above all, pregnancy speculations are one common practice that might often lead to serious invasion of privacy. Can we please let the actresses choose what and when they want to share their utmost personal details? And while we are at it, can we also stop asking them questions about when they would want to start a family? None of our business really!Wardrobe MalfunctionWardrobe MalfunctionWell, you know what slip-ups happen and there is no need to make a big deal about it. Adjusting clothes or a slight mishap with a gown or a dupatta is not something that should make it to front page headlines. Unless they are superhumans, it’s not possible for any human being to not to have a wardrobe malfunction moment and its embarrassing enough even if it does not become the topic of national discourse. Cut them slack, maybe.Glam or De-Glam AvatarsGlam or De-Glam AvatarsActresses and their ‘looks’ in the film are often the most talked thing about their contribution to the film and this has become so common that we have stopped being bothered by this sexist practice. Instead of their roles and characters, their wardrobes and glam avatars are all people get excited about. In fact, we focus on ‘looks’ so much that actresses doing ‘de-glam’ roles becomes news for us because in our thinking actresses can never go beyond looking good. In fact, this is one of the reasons their weight loss and weight gain becomes a major headache for us, because when it comes to ‘heroines’ it is only about good looks, good looks, and good looks.‘Settling’ Down‘Settling’ DownThis is one question that pisses off many actresses to no end. First of all, what does settling down even mean? Who is a cloud of dust that needs to settle down? But jokes apart, the idea that a woman, no matter how successful she is in her career, needs to have ‘settling down’ on the cards is regressive and how. Funnily enough, apart from Salman Khan, people are not really bothered about when male actors ‘settle down’ and they are rarely asked this question, whereas this is one common question that is asked to every unmarried actress in every ‘candid’ interviewComebacksComebacksWe are glad that we have progressed from the time when marriage meant the death of an actress’ career. Actresses like Kareena, Aishwarya and recently even Anushka have proved that there is no correlation between their marriage and career. However, it is really annoying when an actress doing a film after her marriage or even coming to screen after a short hiatus is termed as a ‘comeback’. Aamir Khan might choose not to do a film for 3 years and can do a film without it being tagged as a comeback but if an actress does the same, it immediately becomes her ‘comeback’ film. Logic, anyone?

Bollywood is one of the biggest film producing industries of the world and almost every year we see a record number of releases every year. Whenever a film becomes a hit, chances are that the filmmakers try to repeat the combination of actor-actress, actors-directors in subsequent projects. As per the script requirement, the makers then go looking for new actors too.Directors mostly try to cast their favorite artists in most of their projects while a few times, we have seen them working on a project with the actor they haven't worked before. In the industry, the stars are approached by the producers, directors, writers for a new project but there have been a few instances too when the actors approached the makers to cast them in a film. Here are 5 such actors:Aamir Khan:It would be hard to believe but even Mr. Perfectionist had to approach a director to cast him in a film and that director was none other than his wife Kiran Rao herself. She wanted some other actor to cast in the role of Arun but Aamir kept forcing her to cast him. He was made to give an auditioned and was selected for Arun's part.Akshay Kumar:He starred in this year's PadMan which was said to be based on Twinkle Khanna's book, The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad and inspired by the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham. Twinkle Khanna was one of the producers of the film and she wanted to make a small budget film but after Akshay kept insisting on doing the project, she relented.Sara Ali Khan:Rohit Shetty announced a while ago that he is going to make Simmba with Ranveer Singh and a poster was released shortly. There were a lot of questions about who is going to be the leading lady of the film. Various names were floated in the media but Sara Ali Khan bagged the role. Rohit later revealed that she approached him saying that she wanted to work with him.Vineet Kumar Singh:The actor had taken a couple of years off from the world of cinema and concentrated on writing the script for Mukkabaaz. He later approached Anurag Kashyap to make the film and Kashyap was ready if Vineet became a boxer for real and incorporated a few script changes.Varun Dhawan:The actor is garnering immense critical acclaim for his performance as Dan in October. A few are even calling it his best performance to date. After he heard the narration of October, he insisted that the director Shoojit Sircar cast him in the film.

As cine-goers and lovers of Bollywood, it is well within our rights to blame Bollywood for the slew of below average films it churns out every year. But before blaming Bollywood for coming up with lousy excuses of films, it is perhaps also necessary to peek within ourselves and ask, that are we, in many ways failing Bollywood as audiences by setting our priorities wrong. In a set up where we should demand nothing but groundbreaking content out of world’s biggest film industry, there is a section of audience whose focus on wrong things is actually a major reason why many filmmakers get away with below average content by just catering to certain priorities which are not substantial enough. Films are a business and the rule of demand and supply applies here like any other business. Here are certain demands on the part of audiences that are probably responsible for a huge chunk of bad cinema in the country.‘Looks’ in the filmBollywood determining the style quotient of the country is not a new phenomenon. Forever films have set the trends in the cinema-obsessed land of ours and it is absolutely fine. The problem, however, arises when we become more concerned about howexquisite the wardrobe of the film wasand start judging it on such shallow levels. A counter effect of this is the fact that some director tries to exceptionally cater to this target audience and pay more attention to the wardrobe than the actual content of the film which even becomes the talking point of the film, which ultimately leads to bad cinema.Special Effects and VFXThere is no doubt that special effects in films greatly enriches the narrative of films and good special effects is something thatBollywood is finally catching up on after grappling with it for ages and we couldn’t be more proud. Our problem is with the crowd who would put down films because it doesn’t match up to their standard which is usually set by Hollywood. While it is always good to be inspired by better things, this constant comparison of Bollywood and Hollywood is a little unfair. And the counter effect of this mindset is director’s who set out to deliver killer VFX and focus entirely on them to make this set of audience happy and end up making disasters like Ra.One which had amazing VFX but was a pretty subpar film. The Multiplex ‘Experience’The act of movie viewing as an experience has undergone a sea change in the last decades and it had mostly been about positive changes. From better sound to clearer and an altogether sleek packaging of movie viewing experience or more accurately the multiplex experience. But somewhere with the advent of cutting sound and picture technology, plush seats and buckets of caramel and butter flavored popcorn, the focus has shifted from content to the ‘experience’ which actually allows a lot of below average films to do decent business. The Star CastThis is perhaps the oldest problem of film audiences in this country. Although this tendency has changed a lot in the last few years, the statistics anddownright deplorable movies sweeping the box office simply due to the presence of massive stargoes to show that as movie audiences we are yet to get out of our star struck mode.ControversiesOf late, one joke has been popular among the cinephiles of this country which is certain films should share a percentage of their profit with CBFC given their success was largely dependent on the hype created due toCBFC’ scissor happy ways.In the last few years there have been too many films which people have been excited about not because they had amazing content but because of the controversies it created, which is actually pretty unfortunate if you think about it.

Hollywood films are massively popular worldwide. With the rise in the number of multiplex screens all over the world, we have seen an increase in the number of films releasing in new places as well. With the onset of the digital medium, the makers now have multiple options to release their projects and more stars are shuffling different projects in different mediums with each passing day.Once an actor delivers a hit in a certain genre, there is always a probability that that particular actor is going to get offers in the similar genre. A number of actors have tried to shed off the personas they are majorly known for but came back to the typecast roles as they didn't found success in other genres. The fans' expectations from these actors are such that they don't want wont to see them in any other role. These actors are also offered the same kind of films. Here are 5 Bollywood actors who are majorly typecast in action genre:Dwayne Johnson:The ex-WWE wrestler has successfully transitioned into a formidable leading man. He has consistently been ranked in the highest grossing actors of the year and is leading multiple massively successful franchises in Hollywood. The audiences don't want to see him in any other genre and the actor is consistently delivering action films.Jason Statham:The actor is known for doing majority stunts on his own and he is the go-to guy for typical 80s style or B grade action movies. He has gained a huge fan following over the years thanks to his role in Transporter, Crank and now The Fast & the Furious series. He did a couple of films in other genres of which action was also a part but it soon became clear that he is only suited for action movies.Vin Diesel:The actor has mostly appeared in action films throughout his career and has led multiple successful action franchises such as XXX, Riddick, and The Fast & The Furious series. He is knowns exclusively for his action image persona.Arnold Schwarzenegger:The actor gained huge popularity thanks to his role in Terminator franchise. Since then, he has delivered some of the biggest action-hits in Hollywood and is still getting offers to do more action films. He's one of the most typecast actors in Hollywood.Sylvester Stallone:The actor gained mainstream popularity thank to his iconic roles as Rambo and Rocky. He has mostly starred in action films throughout his career and is mostly known for his tough guy image.
