Saiyami Kher Reveals How She Landed Anurag Kashyap’s Choked: Paisa Bolta Hai; Says ‘He Kept His Word’

The extremely talented Saiyami Kher made her debut in the Hindi film industry 4 years ago with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Mirzya, opposite Anil Kapoor’s handsome son Harshvardhan Kapoor. Sadly, the epic fantasy romance film tanked and the actress was dropped from another project which she had signed ahead of Mirzya’s release. She went on to star in Aditya Sarpotdar’s Marathi blockbuster Mauli with Riteish Deshmukh and made her comeback to Bollywood this year with Netflix’s latest release, Choked: Paisa Bolta Hai.

In a chat with Mid-Day, Saiyami revealed how she bagged the role of Sarita Pillai in Anurag Kashyap’s drama film. When they met at the 2017 MAMI Film Festival, the filmmaker asked her if she wanted to act in his film. She shared, “He asked me if I was sure about playing an older character, warning me that I had to look tired all the time. He told me to think about it and seek others’ opinion before arriving at a decision, but I said yes immediately.”

However, things went downhill and her ‘waiting game began’. She explained, “Anurag sir got busy with Sacred Games, Lust Stories, Ghost Stories and Manmarziyaan.” However, things eventually worked out and 3 years later Saiyami is back on our screens to win us over. She stated, “When your launchpad does not do well, things get difficult, but Anurag sir kept his word.”

Well, we are eagerly waiting to see Saiyami sign more projects and shine on the big screen!
